Java Guestbook producing HTML and a *.gif Scribble file :: Download Source Code
This guestbook has an applet as a client and a small thread on the server. The server produces a HTML guestbook from the text entries. A GifEncoder class from http://www.acme.com/java/ is used to convert a guest's scribble in the guestbook into a *.gif file The applet goes straight to the guestbook HTML page, which contains the guestbook text entries and scribbles. New entries are appended to the HTML file, so the guestbook is persistent and survives server shutdowns.
